Michael Cowie is a freelance Web Designer and Web Developer with skills in Graphic Design, Sound Design and Layout for print.

Michael's education in all things web comes over 20 years of independant study and internships with various design organizations. He has been working exclusively for clients that include small businesses, charities, community organizations, arts groups, political campaigns and individuals since 2005. Since 2007 he has also provided his services to several design companies in Toronto.

Michael's background is in Theatre, and for years he specialised in Directing and Producing. Over a directing career from 1994 to 2007 his productions have garnered positive reviews and promotion from The Globe and Mail, The Times (London), Time Out (London), The Stage (UK), The Edmonton Journal and Sun, The Scotsman (Edinburgh) and have been nominated for a Fringe First (Edinburgh Fringe Festival) and for a Sterling Award (Edmonton). He has also obtained a BA and MFA in Theatre with a focus on directing. 

Michael's design skills were developed as he worked in theatre, and originally he used them for designing posters, websites and print material for his productions - and those of others. Clients have included The Steam Industry in the UK and numerous theatre companies in Canada. His project management skills as a producer, and design knowse earned from years of collaborating with set, costume, lighting and sound designers (as well as his own work in that area) gave him excelent preparation for a career managing complex projects. He looks forward to growing his business and working on projects with scope and ambition, as well as those requiring creative flair.
